Can a 14 year old Intern at a Newspaper? (Journalism)?

I am going to be a freshman in High School next year, and I want to be a journalist. I am 14, and I am very good. I live in the around ATL, but I was thinking a summer internship. I always go to Florida during the summer to visit family, and could some papers I may be interested in are: Sun-Sentinel, Charlotte Sun Herald, Sun Herald, , or the Palm Beach Post. I have family on both coasts, and these would be the closet newspapers to their houses. I am from Florida, so I know about the Sun Shine State. The only thing is I am just 14, would they hire me as an Intern, or do I have to wait two years? I would like to start as yearly as possible, to start building a resume. Would anyone of them hire me? Which newspaper do you suggest? Can I do this? I want to go to NYU for journalism and acting, and later want to go to Columbia for graduate school. This summer I am going to write an article on Miep Gies. (phone interview), and become a freelancer, too. I know I can do it, but would they hire me? Thanks!

  1. Contact the newspaper personnel offices, tell them what your goals are, and what you would like to do for the summer, and who knows they might just put you to work to learn the ropes. Best of luck.
