Do I need approval from the post office before replacing my mailbox and post?
I remember when I moved my mailbox closeer to my house, the mail man refused to deliver my mail until I moved it back. Now I need to replace my mailbox and post because they are rotted. I'm not sure if they will make a big deal again if I replace these 2 items but leaving them at the same location.

- no, you can replace them without notifying the post office as long as they are in the same place.
- not if the new goes in the same location.
- Call the postmaster and tell them whats going on with your mail box. They will know the answer
- As long as you're leaving the mail box in the same location, go ahead, it's not an issue. If your mailbox will be in the process of being replace during mail delivery -- you may want to notify the post office so they can hold your mail that day. If you live in an area with strict neighborhood or city ordinances, you may want to check to see if there are guidelines set for the types of mailboxes that are allowable.
- you didn,t have to call them to replace your mail box put the mail box have to be so high and the house number on the side . if your mail box is not down ,then take the high of it. that way you put the new one that high
- You don't need "approval" or permits to replace your mailbox. The Postal service DOES have certain guidelines which have to be met tho, so you should contact them to get the details on that. Such things as overall height, the size of the mail box itself, set back from the road, etc. Have Fun
