How would I figure this out? (#3)?
This is one of three sample questions for the CHSPE that I need help with. Could you tell me how I would figure this out, in laymen's terms? Each day a freight train leaves Lake City and travels to Hilltown, Chester, and Freeburg. Th en it returns to Lake City. Th e train’s route forms a trapezoid with a right angle as shown below. Here's the image: http://i36.tinypic.com/mrwili.jpg Which is closest to the distance in miles from Freeburg to Lake City? A. 51 B. 43.8 C. 39 D. 32.7

- First you must pretend there is a point on the road from freeburg to chester that is exactly south of lake city. Now this point is 15 miles from freeburg(120-105) and 36 miles from lake city(the same distance from hilltown to chester). Now use the pythagerean theorem 15^2+36^2=x^2 x=39
- The triangle at Freeburg is right the base is 120-105 and altitude is 36 the hypotenuse (the distance in question) is ^/(15^2+36^2) or 39 C
