Post, Freight and Carriers

Are freight trains possible tools for illegal drug smuggling?

Okay, so we are all used to hearing about people trafficing illegal drugs through by the underground, cars, trucks, boats and even submarines. But has anyone considered the possibility of drugs being smuggled through by freight trains? Now most will say that this can never happen, but what if the dealers issued harrassments and threats to the drivers if they could not get the job done? Just a thought.

  1. I see it every day, boxcar after boxcar stuffed with marijuana.
  2. What makes you think that drugs aren't being smuggled on freight trains? Cargo containers go from ships to rail and trucks all the time.
  3. I am sure our immigration are on top of that. I doubt that the trains just come through without being checked out, by man and dog and machine. We are not always going to catch it, but we are getting better. Really good question though!
  4. Bottom line if it can move heavy payloads, for that matter, if it can move any payload a smuggler will use it to deliver.
  5. yes
  6. I live in south Texas and I hear all the time about drugs smuggling busts. There was a case about 4 years ago where they found loads of marijuana on a freight train cargo box which was suppose to be caring a shipment of clothes and shoes from some upscale designer. It's possible and has been done.Drug smugglers will always think up new ways to bring drugs in.From car tire hub caps to humans to trains.
