What is the governing body for the US freight industry?

Is there a government or private-sector overseer for freight and parcel companies in the United States? I want to enter a complaint about the way an international consignment that originated in the US was handled. What official body would handle such a case?

  1. There is none. And, I can tell you already that by mentioning that your internationational consignement ORIGINATED in the US, you've already lost whatever court case you might have tried to file against whichever company(ies) your consignment started out with. Whenever there are ANY other parties between any business in the US and wherever you are outside of the US, you will be so unlikly to have enough evidence that the damage occured while in the US-based company's hands, that you are very very very unlikely to see more than your case being dismissed. The closest thing to an official body is the Better Business Bureau, which is NOT actually a part of any government, but which DOES quite often provide details of similar complaints against ANY kind of business or company, and which provides a list of 'better businesses' within particular industries for people to be able to count on.
